Simply put, our mission is to use innovative technology,
to transform operations at sea, to enable people and the planet to thrive.
Since the very beginning our business has been about challenging convention
based on the belief that there’s a better way of doing things.
We are a business that is driven by people, planet, and profit.
Our technology will see remote ship operations become a true reality. We are transforming operations at sea and creating a major breakthrough for the maritime industry.
But the technology is only one part of our journey; we have set ourselves ambitious targets to ensure that we protect our planet and empower people today, and into the future.
PROTECTING OUR PLANET
Decarbonising
Net zero by 2040.
We believe that being net zero carbon is not about offsetting, but about prioritising the reduction of emissions and limiting residual emissions.
We’ve developed a greener, technology driven approach that is accelerating decarbonisation at sea. Our facilities will be carbon neutral by 2023, followed by our operations at sea by 2027, and the rest of the business, across scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2040.
PROTECTING OUR PLANET
Transforming
Creating a circular economy.
We’re transforming our approach to consumption and waste management by adopting the principles of a circular economy including recycling, waste reduction and responsible purchasing.
Our offices are set to be single-use plastic free by 2023. All of our onshore locations will send zero waste to landfill by 2025.
PROTECTING OUR PLANET
Preserving
Preserving our oceans and all the life that inhabits them.
As we drive a greener future for the industry, we’re also taking action to safeguard the marine environment and life within.
We support organisations working in biodiversity, restoration and marine mammal protection.
We openly share data with the scientific community wherever possible to support crucial research into the impacts of human activities on marine ecosystems.
EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Balancing
Closing the gender pay gap by 2025.
We know that the maritime industry does not accurately represent the diverse world that we live in today. It also has a considerable gender pay gap.
We’re striving towards a gender balanced workforce and want to promote gender diversity within the wider industry.
We’re committed to closing our gender pay gap by 2025, getting more women into leadership roles and more girls into STEM fields.
EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Protecting
All of our people, onshore and at sea.
As we pave the way for a remotely operated, robotic future of the marine industry, we’re creating a safer and more secure environment for people at sea.
We’re creating an inclusive and safe work environment for all by making physical disability improvements in all our facilities, and carrying out inclusive leadership training.
To support wellbeing, all of our employees have access to mental health support.
EMPOWERING PEOPLE
Inspiring
Inspiring the next generation of thinkers.
As we lead the way in developing a more innovative and sustainable approach to operations at sea, we have a responsibility to educate the next generation and connect them with our oceans.
We support a variety of educational programmes where we harness the power of technology to connect with students. We also support programmes that are aimed at encouraging more girls into STEM fields.
Certifications and pledges...
We have signed The Climate Pledge to demonstrate our commitment to our goal of becoming net zero carbon by 2040.
We have signed up to Business for Nature’s Call to Action calling on governments to adopt ambitious policies not to reverse nature loss in this decade.
We have joined Project Seagrass, WWF and Sky as the key technology partners in an effort to restore seagrass across UK coastlines.
