Unreal Developer – Team Leader -

Ocean Infinity is seeking a highly motivated Unreal Developer Team Leader who will be responsible for a team of 4-5 people.


Ocean Infinity is a pioneer of large scale marine robotic operations deploying robotic technologies to capture ocean data and deliver maritime solutions whilst minimising our environmental footprint. Ocean Infinity recently acquired the Portuguese company Abyssal, which develops and implements proprietary software solutions for the offshore industry geared towards improving the safety and efficiency of subsea operations.

The company’s technology ranges from a managed cloud data platform, synthetic environments, advanced 3D visualisation and operation management system tools. The software created is mission-critical and strives for extreme reliability.

Reports to: Technical Manager – Software


The role:

Working closely with the other Team Leaders and reporting to the Technical Manager – Software, you will design architectures for different solutions, ensure that best practices are followed and that product quality exceeds expectations. You must be a reference for the team, supporting their work and growth in order to deliver state-of-the-art products, helping the company reach its goals and go above and beyond clients expectations.


The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Design architecture for systems and solutions for technically complex products;
  • Evaluate and plan to achieve short to long term products and company goals;
  • Develop products using technologies such as Unreal Engine 4, .Net C#, Python, PowerShell, among others;
  • Working with and managing Epic partnership with Abyssal;
  • Manage Git workflows and CI & CD pipelines;
  • Analyze and identify where the team workflow can be optimized;
  • Teach & guide the team on the best procedures and practices, while fostering creativity.



Skills & Qualifications:


  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology;
  • +2 years of experience as software engineer;
  • +2 years of experience with Unreal Engine;
  • Advanced knowledge of Git;
  • Knowledge of .Net C#, Python, Powershell;
  • Experience developing with visual scripting alongside with C++;
  • Team leader experience;
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;
  • Experience in agile methodologies;
  • Proactive, a problem solver and capable of “think-out-of-the-box”.



  • Rendering pipeline experience;
  • Video rendering;
  • DirectX 9/11/12 Knowledge;
  • Experience with simulation software;
  • Experience with other 3D Game Engines.




  • Implements the OIMS and all other organizational practices and programs under his/her supervision or control;
  • Requires all team members under his/her direction to successfully complete all required training, competency elements, and OIMS training;
  • Collects, recommends, and implements OIMS improvements;
  • Collects requisite / appropriate data per the OIMS;
  • Ensures there is a process in place to maintain workplaces and equipment under his/her direction that are safe, well kept, and complies with OIMS policies;
  • Ensures safe working procedures are developed for the use of hazardous chemicals, physical, and biological substances.
  • Conducts or arranges for risks assessments;
  • Participates in event investigations, Frontline Insights, Positive Investigations, and other OIMS programs;
  • Meets all management system needs for units/departments (e.g. controls, training, PPE, corrective actions, and measures including non-compliance / non-conforming items identified in audits);
  • Supports and engages with Ocean Infinity’s environmental and social goals.
