Technology Manager -

Ambrey, part of Ocean Infinity, is seeking a Technology Manager.

Ambrey was established in 2010 to offer a dynamic and creative solution putting clients’ needs first, providing safety, security, marine and risk management services to the Shipping, Oil & Gas, and Offshore industries.

In June 2021, Ambrey became part of Ocean Infinity. The acquisition combines Ocean Infinity’s robotic vessels, data, cyber, artificial intelligence, and low emission operations with one of the leading brands in the maritime security sector, expanding our operations into North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The role:

This is a 1-year Fixed-Term position based at the company Head Office in Herefordshire, while we will consider limited flexible working arrangements, this position is predominately for someone to work in-house during normal business hours. Reporting to the Associate Director of Technology & Innovation, the Technology Manager will own the technical roadmap for Ambrey working closely with the leadership, operations, commercial and development teams to ensure we are building the right thing in the right way.


The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Ownership of all technical systems and products in the Ambrey estate;
  • You must be adept at understanding business processes and problems and are able to translate them into a set of requirements;
  • Understanding and representing user needs by writing and refining user stories with acceptance criteria;
  • Balance user, business and technology needs;
  • Consider both functional and non-functional requirements;
  • Keep stakeholders aligned around the product vision;
  • Produce detailed scoping documentation for existing and future systems meeting the everchanging requirements of the business;
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure the right features are prioritised;
  • Ensure requirements are fully understood and that implementation plans match expectations;
  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance;
  • Define strategies with success metrics to inform and create a product roadmap;
  • Maintain a product backlog.


Qualifications and skills:

  • 2-3 years’ experience as a technology manager, maintaining excellent documentation and providing detailed roadmaps for the future;
  • Experience creating strategic product roadmaps, working with cross-functional teams;
  • Passion for user-centred design;
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders without direct authority;
  • Excellent ability to convert user stories into clear and concise requirements;
  • The motivation and enthusiasm to take ownership and responsibility;
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Outstanding communication skills.
