Engineering Project Manager -

Ocean Infinity is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to work within the technology delivery team. The technology delivery team works across the wider Ocean Infinity technology teams to deliver projects across our fleet of surface and sub surface robotic systems

The role

The Engineering Project Manager will be a motivated and experienced project manager with a background in engineering. They will be working closely with engineers, technologists and operators in several teams with diverse disciplines, from mechanical engineering and naval architecture to systems engineering, control systems, software development, robotics, marine and payload operations. Projects will range from small internal studies to multi million pound equipment acquisition from external suppliers. The role will be based in Ocean Infinity’s new state of the art remote control center, offices, and workshop in Southampton, but the Engineering Project Manager will be working with colleagues in the UK, USA, Portugal, Sweden and elsewhere.


The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Project management working creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence;
  • Building, tracking, and reporting project budgets;
  • Building, managing, and reporting project schedules/timelines;
  • Working with engineering/tech leaders to plan and co-ordinate project resources;
  • Developing project risk and opportunity register and managing through the project;
  • Working with the wider technology delivery team, systems engineering and management to implement and improve project management processes and documentation;
  • Managing project documentation and administration;
  • Running project meetings, action trackers and gate reviews etc;
  • Occasional travel to project partners, suppliers, or Ocean Infinity offices overseas.


Person Specification:


  • A background in engineering in a relevant discipline;
  • A degree in engineering or equivalent practical engineering experience;
  • A great communicator with the ability to positively motivate and lead teams in high pressure projects;
  • Demonstrable experience of project management and delivery of complex engineered systems;
  • A professional, focused and driven individual.



  • Prince 2 or alternative project management training;
  • An active interest in maritime robotics, ships, boats, the oceans, survey, navigation or similar.



  • Implements the Ocean Infinity Management System (OIMS) and all other organizational practices and programs under his/her supervision or control;
  • Requires all team member under his/her direction to successfully complete all required training, competency elements, and OIMS training;
  • Collects, recommends, and implements OIMS improvements;
  • Collects requisite/appropriate data per the OIMS;
  • Ensures there is a process in place to maintain workplaces and equipment under his/her direction that are safe, well kept, and complies with OIMS policies;
  • Ensures safe working procedures are developed for the use of hazardous chemicals, physical, and biological substances;
  • Conducts or arranges for risks assessments;
  • Participates in event investigations, Frontline Insights, Positive Investigations, and other OIMS programs;
  • Meets all management system needs for units/departments (e.g. controls, training, PPE, corrective actions, and measures including non-compliance / non-conforming items identified in audits);
  • Supports and engages with Ocean Infinity’s environmental and social goals.
