Scientific Investigation

Larsen C Ice Shelf

Our technology played a pivotal role in a major international Antarctic science expedition. We provided state-of-the-art technology to provide new scientific insight into one of the coldest and most remote regions of the world.

Our Case Studies

The brief

In January 2019, the Weddell Sea Expedition headed into the heart of Antarctica to gather scientific information about the region to better understand the effects of human and natural climate change. Ocean Infinity provided state-of-the-art technology, sent underneath ice-shelves, to gain insight about the region.

How we helped

The focus of the expedition is the scientific investigation of the Larsen C Ice Shelf in the Weddell Sea. Our Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle (ROV) technology enabled measurement of a range of important physical and biological parameters beneath the ice shelf and the sea-ice. The data collected will provide information on the little-studied biological systems of this extreme environment, and together with above-ice measurements, contribute to the understanding of sea-ice conditions in the Weddell Sea and the implications for ocean currents and climate change.

Meet the teams behind the scenes

Offshore

The offshore team are responsible for ensuring that our pioneering technology is operated safely and efficiently. We operate smoothly and work as a team to produce the highest quality results for our clients.

Commercial

The commercial team are responsible for driving the growth of Ocean Infinity. We have a very exciting mission as we innovate and disrupt the sea bed intelligence space through innovative engagements with a very diverse group of clients all over the world.

Operations

The operations team ensure that we can operate around the globe, effectively delivering high-quality results to our clients. We ensure that company can map the sea floor at an unprecedented scale and speed. The operations team are fast, forward thinkers who work precisely and attentively.

Technical

The technical team are leading experts in sub-sea exploratory technology. The team are curious and push boundaries by advancing autonomous technical capabilities.
