We successfully completed a project which entailed conducting urgent subsea search, inspection and operations on the wreck of the MV Grande America, which sank in the Bay of Biscay on 12 March 2019.
In March 2019, the Grande America caught fire between France and Spain and sank 15,000 feet into the Bay of Biscay. The 27 people on board were rescued but an oil spill began moving towards the French coast line. Ocean Infinity used its state-of-the-art technology to inspect and survey the state of the wreckage.
Using the fleet of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles to locate the wreck, and world class Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles (ROVs), Ocean Infinity conducted a programme of inspection and operations, in order to determine the state of the Grande America. Our ROV operated for 249hrs and 14 min with a 6.5% total downtime. Each ROV is equipped with bright beamed lights to ensure visibility. The ROVs also send a live video feed from the HD cameras to the control room, allowing the opportunity to immediately identify objects on the seabed. With three vessels around the globe, the response time was rapid and the survey was conducted at an unparallel speed, scale and precision.
